CHA Winter 2013

I have no idea how to write this post lol! I thought I’d do a “recap” but I’m not really sure how to! I attended my very first CHA show this last weekend! Catherine and I met up to walk the floor as “first timers” together. It’s a complete mix of scrapbooking manufacturers, adhesive, jewelry making supplies, and any type of craft supply in between. Of course our first stop was the AC / Studio Calico / Project Life section.

The Studio Calico booth looked great! Here & There might be my favorite line!

I’m sad I didn’t get to run into Liz but I did get to see her GORGEOUS Project Life kit in person

Maggie’s booth was as gorgeous as she is!

And Amy’s booth was SO fun! You’re going to LOVE her new calendar stamp and embroidery stencil kit!

I got to see my Elle’s Studio layouts hanging up in her booth (I’ll share those here tomorrow) AND meet Elle herself who is just as sweet as she seems online!

Another highlight was getting to chat with Ali Edwards (and Katie too!) Chai latte with a shot of espresso was a necessity!

One of the lines that surprised me (in a good way) was Special Delivery by Heidi Sonboul for GCD Studios and their booth was super cute!

That night I got a chance to go to Disneyland / California Adventure with some of my crafty blogger friends. Will be posting more about that on All for the Boys and All for the Everyday! It was SO cold! I’m wearing leggings, jeans, long socks, tank, dress, sweater, sweater, jacket, and scarf lol! I was pretty good that way!

The next morning I was excited to meet up with some of my Studio Calico / Instagram pals to walk the floor! The Allison Kreft for Webster’s booth was always so busy because her line is gorgeous!

Liz Kartchner and her husband Colin are awesome people and her new line is stunning. Suz and I got to akwardly dance around her booth lol! (Suz can’t keep her eyes open ;)

Basic Grey’s Hipster line was another favorite of mine!

That night I went to dinner with the Studio Calico crew and it might have been the highlight of my trip! SUCH an amazing team to work with!

I feel like there were SO many people and products that I didn’t get to see. I need a list next time (says the non list maker)! I am still so honored and humbled to be working for the best companies and was excited to see the booths and products so early and in person. If you have a picture of/with me link me to it so I can save it!

I spent Monday with my Mom - we saw Les Mis! and my two crazies were very happy their mom was home

For lots of detail I recommend keeping an eye on The Scrappy Jedi (who I also flagged down while I was there ;) she does some awesome CHA posts and she actually had her camera out!

Envelope Advent Book

I am so excited to be a part of Elle’s Studio Celebrate December! I created a new Advent calendar of sorts for the boys. It’s a mini book made out of envelopes. Each day I slip in a notecard with an activity for us to do (or some days just a clue on where to find a little gift).

Make sure to stop by the Elle’s Studio blog every day for a lot more inspiration and fun giveaways!

December Album Finished!

I finished my album last night and I’ll admit to completely pooping out at the end (is it appropriate to say pooping on a blog? oh well) I did pages 15-25 before picking Jared up at the airport at 11pm last night so I definitely just wanted to get it done. Still, I love that it’s finished and the boys have looked through it a dozen times already.

Now that that’s done I can take on Project Life!!

I’m getting my stack of journaling cards ready

(this set from Pink Trike Design)

Elle's Studio December (and last) Gallery!

I can’t believe how quickly that  flew by! This is the last month for the current design team at Elle’s Studio.  I chose the Jack Frost kit to complete my December Gallery and this kit was SO well put together! I loved those wooden snowflakes (obviously) and the exclusive tags were perfect.

Here’s what I did this month

and I finally finished my wreath!

Thank you Elle SO much for allowing me to be a part of this amazing team (my first and hopefully not last paper design team). I’m definitely going to be incorporating Elle’s Studio products into my Project Life next year!

Our Advent Calendar

I made up a fun activity Advent Calendar for the boys this year.

(we haven’t gotten our other Christmas decorations out yet)

I just printed up the circles + numbers using Robyn’s Vintage Label and Vintage Holiday elements punched them out and stuck them on a paper bag. The clips are from Ikea (I found them in the laundry room).

I’ve only filled the first couple bags so far, but they each have a little tag with an activity for us to do. Even though it seems so simple to me the boys loved it and were very excited to go get our tree. We would have done it anyway but it seemed even more special to them.

If I’m not sure what the day will bring I’ll stick in a small treat, chapstick, eraser or something. They also have their Lego advent calendars.

Elle's Studio October Gallery

The October Gallery went up over at Elle’s Studio. I love looking at what the ladies have done every month and I’ll be honest, I still can’t believe I’m among them. I always feel like mine don’t measure up! I guess we all have different styles though and me admiring there’s only pushes me more each month!

Scrapbooks Etc

You may notice a new button over on the side ——————————->

Yes! I have a project in this months Scrapbook etc. and this issue just hit newstands today. When you get a chance go pick one up! You may see a familiar name (or two if you look closely) on page 112!

Here’s a quick preview I snapped with my phone when I got my copy

Elle's Studio: Forever Grateful Project Kit

Yesterday my post went up for the Elle’s Studio Forever Grateful Project Kit. There really is a few different ways you can use this kit and we are sharing some of those ways over on the Elle’s Studio blog this week! This kit is limited edition and once they are gone they’re gone - they make a great gift! I actually ordered one for a gift after I made my own.

Here’s what I did with the kit

Go check out what the other ladies have been doing with the kit!

As we are nearing the end of September everyone starts talking about Fall and cooler weather. Unfortunately we still have warm weather for a while but I am thinking about getting out some of the fun Fall things we have made in the past.

My fave the Duct tape banner

and then there’s the cupcake liner banner

or this cute pumpkin mobil

and the first time I sewed something

I’m also thinking about all the amazing things I’ve been inspired to try on my Halloween Pinterest board.

What are you working on?

I have a Harry Potter party coming up VERY soon so all my crafting time is going towards that. Here’s a peek at what I was working on tonight (late as usual)

Also trying out the Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free Brownie mix. I’m really not a fan of mixes, but I like to try some here and there for when we need a quick dessert. This at least has Ghiradelli cocoa in it (my fav) so we’ll see how it turns out.

I *think* I’ve finally decided how I’m going to put together/display my P365 photos (besides doing one digital printed album at the end of the year). I’m going to do a mini album for each month so I have a place to add some keepsakes throughout the month (I don’t have any for Jan since I just decided to do this). I have a short attention span when it comes to these projects and it seems that if I don’t finish them right away I won’t finish them at all.  Needless to say it was important to me for this to be simple, quick, and easy while still being fun to put together and to look at. I learned a few things while doing this
- My adhesive sucks I’ll take any recs. you have!
- I need a date stamper
- I need LOTS more Elle’s studio. These tags were SO perfect for this project. Gave all the little details I wanted - without all the work!
- Need more Studio Calico and October Afternoon paper and stickers (it’s pretty much all I used).
- Need smaller rings.
- Need to decide on a sturdier cover, maybe just an acrylic?
- Did I mention I need a new adhesive?
Anyway here is my very first mini album ever!

What day is it anyway?  Sheesh December sneaks up on you then blows right by.  I won’t sacrifice time with my kiddos so time on the blog goes first.  I do have some pictures to share but first I’ll catch you up on what I’ve been doing in the scrap world!

The amazing Jaime from Three Paper Peonies is doing a downloadable advent calendar!  She’s posting a freebie every day until Christmas!  If you hurry you can still get all the days - they are only available to download for a few days.  This is perfect if you want to play with digi scrapping, if you wanted to design your own Christmas cards, or to print out for paper scrapping!

All the elements are going to coordinate with her 12 Days kit (which I have yet to play with but am going to this week)

Yikes December crept up on me!  I wanted to have these done in time for you to start printing them out on the first but I don’t know that many of you will be reading this before packing those first December lunches.  Sorry about that!  At any rate, here is the first installment of the Christmas/Winter joke note cards :)  I hope you enjoy them - and just like the Halloween ones I’d love to hear/see pictures of what you did with them.  Some ideas I got were - treat bag toppers, make a little joke book on a book ring, advent calendar notes, inside of crackers, stocking stuffers…

Decorations were SUPER simple and quick.  I don’t think 8 year old boys look much at the decorations but I wanted to put something up.  I was really watching my budget so didn’t want to spend a lot.  I made some paper Legos to hang from a light fixture, and a couple banners.  Actually the birthday boy made most of the banners which is why the string goes both in front and behind the triangles but no one noticed ;)

My mother in law made the super cute cake!  (My house is a dungeon and it’s always so hard for me to get colors correct with all the yucky artificial light)

Part 3 the games coming tomorrow!

Part 3 the games

I was inspired by an invitation I saw here , but I really wanted to create something myself.  Here’s what I came up with!  The images used are mine :)  The tri-folds were purchased at Michaels.
